North Wellington Christian Home Educator's Co-op Dates: We meet on 2 Fridays each month, two semesters yearly, plus various field trips, ski trips and special events. Current dates can be found under the "Coming Events" Time: From 10-12 noon Location: Alma Bible Church (59 Peel Street East, Alma, ON) In September 2017 we moved from our previous location at Arthur Pentecostal Assembly to our current location at Alma Bible Church, which has a lovely nursery/toddler room for the little ones, as well as several classrooms, and (new for us) a wonderful gymnasium! Cost: $25 per family per semester (two yearly) What is expected: It is expected that each mother will take a turn to teach at least 1 class and assist in another class. There will also need to be 2-3 mothers to stay in the nursery to assist with the youngest children. During your first semester with us, you will only be asked to assist in classes- teaching classes will begin in your next semester.
There will be 3 classes offered during this time period of 10-12 noon. We divide the ages into 4 groups, for ease of preparation: 3-4’s (preschoolers) 5-9 yrs. (Juniors) and 9-12 yrs. (Seniors), and 12-16 (Teens). Older students may come and help to teach and/or assist in the classes, and receive their high school volunteer hours if approved.
We expect our children to be respectful to not only their own parents, but to others as well. Tolerance will not be extended towards continued behavior or language that is mean-spirited, disrespectful or unedifying. And finally, just so that there are no surprises….this is a Christian Homeschooling Co-op, and is mostly made up of Christian mothers, so although this is not Sunday School, if you would be offended by the fact that we love God, and may naturally mention Him because of that reason, than this home school co-op may not be the right one for your family. Our actions towards each other, even among the children, need to be respectful, kind, and considerate. We strive to honour God and give our children an extra fun day to experience some classes that we may not have the gifts or talents to teach at home, and the opportunity to make some new friends - for all of us!
